Twins' Joe Mauer: Out of Sunday's lineup

Mauer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

Analysis:

Mauer will sit against lefty Danny Duffy, as right-hander Trevor Plouffe (first) and switch-hitter Eduardo Escobar (third) will man the corner infield spots Sunday, while Miguel Sano serves as the DH. The Twins will want to get Mauer back into their lineup for the upcoming series against Detroit, as the veteran is slashing .364/.447/.591 since Aug. 1.
