Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Takes no-hitter into seventh Saturday

Finnegan (8-9) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight Saturday against the Dodgers.

Analysis:

For the second time this season, Finnegan took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning. He was nine outs away from the feat before giving up a single to lead off the top of the seventh. The left-hander's effort earned him his fourth quality start in his last five outings and lowered his ERA to 4.32, its best mark since June 25. On Saturday, Finnegan illustrated what made him a first-round pick in 2014. However, the inexperience 23-year-old still has a lot to improve upon, as he leads the NL in walks (68) and homers allowed (26).
