Cespedes quells injury concerns by clubbing 2 HRs

Yoenis Cespedes was teeing off at AT&T Park on Saturday afternoon.

Fresh off a stint on the disabled list with a quadriceps injury (that may or may not have been agitated by the outfielder playing golf) Cespedes clubbed a pair of home runs to pace the New York Mets' offense.

After doubling in the first, Cespedes smashed a solo shot off Giants starter Matt Moore in the third inning that traveled 457 feet. It was the longest Mets home run in the last two years, according to Statscast.

Cespedes picked up his second homer of the game in the seventh inning, this time, taking Jake Peavy deep to left center field with a 418-foot blast.

An avid golfer, Cespedes said Friday that his doctor told him that golfing while he was battling the quadricepses injury "did not affect me." Manager Terry Collins initially said he had no issue with Cespedes taking part in the sport during the season, while general manager Sandy Alderson acknowledged that the optics were bad.
