The streak has come to an end.
Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth saw his on-base streak finish at 46 games on Friday night, tying the longest such streak in franchise history.
Werth went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the Nationals' 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves.
The impressive streak, which was tied for the third-longest in the majors in the last 10 years, began June 20, and during that time Werth hit .264/.382/.460.
The 37-year-old outfielder tied Montreal Expos star Rusty Staub's record on Thursday, which was previously set in 1970.
The major-league record for consecutive games reaching base is 84, set by Ted Williams in 1949.
