Red Sox's David Ortiz: Set for day off Thursday

Ortiz is expected to receive a day off Thursday, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

Ortiz has seen the ball well over the last week, but with the Red Sox playing an early afternoon game Thursday and scheduled to face Tigers left-hander Matt Boyd, manager John Farrell will in all likelihood take the opportunity to get his veteran slugger some rest.
