Dodgers tie MLB record with 27th player on DL
If you pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers, there's about a 99 percent chance you've been on the disabled list this season.
After placing Brett Anderson and Scott Kazmir on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, the Dodgers tied the MLB record for the most unique players on the injury list in one season with a resounding 27.
In an ironic twist, Kenta Maeda, whose physical exam in the offseason was bogged with a number of "irregularities," is now the only pitcher on Los Angeles' roster to make all his starts this season.
The Dodgers, who used their 94th different lineup in their 125th game Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants, still somehow sit in first place in the NL West despite a pitching staff that has missed significant time in 2016 due to a myriad of reasons:
Pitcher | Injury | Date |
---|---|---|
Brett Anderson | Bulging disc surgery | April 3 |
Yimi Garcia | Right biceps soreness | April 23 |
Chin-Hui Tsao | Right triceps strain | May 22 |
Rich Hill | Left groin strain | May 30 |
Alex Wood | Left elbow soreness | May 31 |
Clayton Kershaw | Herniated disc | June 27 |
Hyun-Jin Ryu | Left elbow tendinitis | July 9 |
Casey Fien | Right elbow tendinitis | July 17 |
Rich Hill | Left hand blister | July 20 |
Chris Hatcher | Left oblique strain | July 20 |
Adam Liberatore | Left elbow inflammation | July 30 |
Bud Norris | Back strain | Aug. 1 |
Louis Coleman | Right shoulder fatigue | Aug. 3 |
Josh Ravin | Right triceps inflammation | Aug. 14 |
Brandon McCarthy | Right hip stiffness | Aug. 14 |
Brett Anderson | Left hand blister | Aug. 23 |
Scott Kazmir | Neck inflammation | Aug. 23 |
The 2012 Boston Red Sox - co-owners of the dreadful record - finished last in the AL East in their unlucky season.
