Brewers' Ryan Braun: Day-to-day with sprained knee and ankle
Manager Craig Counsell says he thinks the team dodged a bullet with Braun's injury Tuesday, adding that he hopes the left fielder is day-to-day with the knee sprain, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports. Braun also suffered a slightly sprained ankle on the play, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Analysis:
Braun suffered the injuries when sliding feet first into the left field wall Tuesday. The note of optimism from Counsell and the fact that Braun did not suffer any ligament damage is encouraging. Braun walked off the field under his own power Tuesday and while the diagnosis is the best his owners could hope for, it would not be surprising if Braun missed a few games. Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Ramon Flores and Jake Elmore are all options to see time in left field in the short term.
