Choo returning to DL after fracturing forearm

MLB.com

Shin-Soo Choo's season of bad luck continues.

The Texas Rangers outfielder suffered a fractured left forearm on a hit by pitch during Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics that will send him to the disabled list for the fourth time this season.

Choo was hit by a Ross Detwiler pitch in the fifth inning and immediately grabbed his lower arm and wrist in pain. Tests in the Rangers' clubhouse revealed the injury.

A timeline for Choo's return is unclear, but it's possible he'll miss the rest of the regular season. Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos suffered the same injury in April and missed nearly 10 weeks as a result; he also had a plate inserted into his forearm.

Choo is hitting .250/.369/.421 with seven homers in just 44 games this season. He's already missed time thanks to a right calf strain, a left hamstring strain, and lower back inflammation.

The 34-year-old's third DL stint of 2016 ended just 11 days ago.
