The Miami Marlins considered signing Alex Rodriguez, but that's the extent of it.

Shortly after A-Rod's spokesperson said he has no intention of signing with another club this season, Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill told MLB Network's Jon Morosi that he never reached out to Rodriguez.

Hill added that Rodriguez was among a few players the Marlins considered.

Rodriguez was released by the New York Yankees on Saturday, and cleared waivers on Monday. Given Giancarlo Stanton is out for the remainder of the season, and A-Rod hails from Miami, it seemed like a perfect fit.

Although he played his final game in pinstripes, Rodriguez is four home runs shy of 700 for his career, and he hasn't hinted what he plans on doing next season.

Back in March, A-Rod told reporters he wouldn't play beyond the 2017 season.
