Cubs' John Lackey: Diagnosed with stiff shoulder

Lackey was removed from Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to stiffness in his right shoulder.

Analysis:

Lackey had already thrown 106 pitches at the time of his removal, giving up one unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over 6.2 innings. Speaking after the game, Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Lackey is already feeling better after receiving some treatment, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers. The 37-year-old's next start is scheduled for Saturday in Colorado.
