Mets' Jose Reyes: Starting at shortstop, leading off Saturday
Reyes (oblique) was activated from the DL and is starting at shortstop and hitting leadoff Saturday against the Padres.
Analysis:
He only made two rehab appearances for short-season Brooklyn before being activated, in what appears to be a somewhat desperate move by the Mets. Oddly enough, he wasn't playing shortstop during his rehab, but will now man the position Saturday. Asdrubal Cabrera remains on the DL with a strained knee and has not yet begun a rehab assignment, so Reyes figures to man shortstop and bat high in the Mets' order for the time being.
