Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Available to pitch Thursday

Kimbrel (knee) was available to pitch Thursday night in Boston's 4-2 loss to the Yankees, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

Manager John Farrell said he was going to use Kimbrel to close out the game, but the Yankees put up a three-spot in the eighth inning to take a lead, rendering the services of the closer unnecessary. Given his availability to pitch, Kimbrel is no longer day-to-day with knee soreness.
