Indians' Andrew Miller: Enters Thursday's game in sixth inning
Miller entered Thursday's game against the Twins in the sixth and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, earning a hold.
Analysis:
The lefty replaced Dan Otero on the mound with two outs in the sixth and the Twins' order about to turn over, as the Tribe led 4-2. He preserved the lead, recording four outs on 18 pitches with three punchouts. It was easy to assume Miller would inherit the ninth-inning job upon arrival from New York given how dominant he's been, but manager Terry Francona has been non-committal in regard to roles. Thursday's usage may be a sign that Cleveland could go with a committee approach to the later innings, with Miller coming in earlier in games (and thus affording Cody Allen more chances in the ninth) as the matchups dictate.
