Watch: Encarnacion hits 30 HRs for 5th straight season

The "Edwing" made its 30th appearance of the season Thursday when Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion hammered an offering from Houston Astros right-hander James Hoyt into the left-field stands.

With the ninth-inning blast, Encarnacion reached the 30-home run mark for the fifth consecutive season, the longest active streak in the majors.

The 33-year-old Dominican is also second all time on the Blue Jays behind only Carlos Delgado (eight) in consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs.

Encarnacion's feat was so triumphant, it even received some praise on Twitter from Blue Jays great Jesse Barfield:
