Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Activated from DL

Kimbrel (knee) was activated from the 15-day DL on Monday, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

Although he did not fare well during his rehab appearance Saturday at Triple-A Pawtucket, Kimbrel held up physically and should immediately reprise his role as the closer in Boston, providing a much-needed boost to the bullpen. Kimbrel's activation falls at the short end of the initial 3-to-6-week timetable provided after he was diagnosed with a left medial meniscus tear on July 9.
