Blue Jays' Russell Martin: Plates a pair in Saturday blowout
Martin went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs in Saturday's 9-1 victory over the Orioles.
Analysis:
The veteran backstop was an integral part of a seven-run fifth inning for Toronto that broke the game open, plating Edwin Encarnacion and Michael Saunders with a two-bagger to deep right. Martin now has a modest three-game hitting streak, and has reached safely in seven straight overall. His solid July has served to raise his season average 17 points to .233.
