The Texas Rangers are firmly in the mix to land All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy from the Milwaukee Brewers after he vetoed a trade to the Cleveland Indians early Sunday morning, sources told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Texas has been linked to Lucroy since the winter thanks to a glaring need behind the plate. The team's catchers have hit just .234/.287/.425 this season as a unit while battling several injuries.

The Rangers were thought to have been out in the Lucroy sweepstakes on Saturday, when talk of him moving to the Indians was beginning to gain steam.

The Brewers looked to have a deal sending Lucroy to Cleveland for a package of four prospects, only to see the 30-year-old veto the trade with his no-trade clause. Lucroy can block trades to eight teams thanks to a limited no-trade list; the Indians are on that list, while the Rangers aren't.

The Rangers have also been linked to San Diego Padres backstop Derek Norris, who they apparently discussed during spring training.
