The New York Mets appear to be aggressive in their efforts to acquire Jonathan Lucroy, as sources told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports the club offered the Milwaukee Brewers a three-player package that includes Travis d'Arnaud in exchange for the All-Star catcher.

Rosenthal adds that either minor leaguer Brandon Nimmo, the Mets' top-ranked outfield prospect according to MLB Pipeline, or a comparable player is believed to be included in the proposed package for Lucroy. It was previously reported the Brewers rejected the Mets' straight-up offer of d'Arnaud for Lucroy.

Though a deal is not believed to be imminent, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Lucroy was noticeably absent from Saturday's lineup against Pittsburgh for the second time in three days. Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel indicates Lucroy will remain out of the lineup as the club continues to make progress on a trade.

One of the most highly coveted players as Monday's deadline nears, Lucroy has drawn interest from multiple teams, with the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers among the clubs reported to have engaged the Brewers in trade discussions.

Lucroy's value has risen dramatically this season on the heels of a disappointing 2015 campaign. The 30-year-old entered Saturday hitting .300/.360/.484 with 13 home runs and 17 doubles in 94 games while ranking second in OBP and slugging among major-league catchers.

Given his production and team-friendly contract - he's earning $4 million this season and has an option valued at $5.25 for 2017 - the Brewers have reportedly set a high asking price for his services.

Meanwhile, d'Arnaud, a former first-round pick and highly touted prospect, has battled inconsistency and injuries since arriving in Queens as part of the R.A. Dickey trade in 2012. The 27-year-old has appeared in only 244 games since 2013, managing a .713 OPS while never appearing in more than 108 contests in a season.
