Jay Bruce is heading into the non-waiver trade deadline red hot.
The Cincinnati Reds outfielder continued to up his trade value Wednesday as he homered off San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner for his sixth in the last five games. The five-game homer streak tied the Reds franchise record.
Bruce is one of the top bats on the market and the Reds appear to have plenty of suitors. It was reported Tuesday that the team was in conversation with at least four clubs and are said to be seeking a top prospect in return for the nine-year veteran.
The 29-year-old is in the midst of a career year, hitting .271/.323/.572 with 25 home runs, 22 doubles, and 79 RBIs. He ranks first among major-league outfielders in slugging, and second in home runs.
