Progressive Field bases advertise Indians-Senators matchup

MLB.com

Tuesday is apparently an unscheduled throwback night at Progressive Field.

Washington Nationals broadcasters were quick to notice that the bases laid out by the Cleveland Indians grounds crew contained a very strange mistake, as they advertised the contest as being between the Indians and Washington Senators - a team that hasn't existed for 45 years.

The wordmark "Senators" was even written out in red script that looked similar to the style used by the old Senators and mimicked on the Nationals' current road jerseys.

The original Senators played in the nation's capital from 1901-1960 before they were relocated to Minnesota. A second version of the team joined the American League in 1961 and moved to Texas 10 years later.
