Chris Sale could find himself in another set of pinstripes after Aug. 1.

The New York Yankees have reportedly called the Chicago White Sox "a couple times" regarding Sale and could emerge as a surprise buyer for the southpaw ace, sources told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

With Sale's price reportedly set at five top prospects, the Yankees are in a prime position to make a serious run at Sale with a newly bolstered farm system. In trading fireballer reliever Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs on Monday, the Yankees acquired three highly touted young players, including the Cubs' former No.1 prospect, Gleyber Torres.

Sale will start Thursday for the White Sox against the Cubs after serving a five-day suspension for cutting up the club's throwback uniforms.
