Rockies' David Dahl: Contract selected, hitting sixth Monday

Dahl's contract was selected from Triple-A and he will start in left field and hit sixth Monday in Baltimore, ROOT Sports' Jenny Cavnar reports.

Analysis:

One of the top fantasy prospects in the game, Dahl was called up Monday in a somewhat surprising move, as the non-contending Rockies will start his service-time clock despite the fact that he was not on the 40-man roster and had logged just 16 games at Triple-A. Dahl, 22, slashed .314/.394/.569 with 18 home runs and 17 steals in 92 games between Double-A and Triple-A, and should immediately be added in almost all formats. He will presumably play almost every day in left field and could move up in the order if he gets off to a hot start. There have not been many impact minor leaguers called up this season, but Dahl has a good chance of being an exception to that trend.
