Tigers' Justin Verlander: Continues sparkling June with win
Verlander (10-6) earned a win Monday by holding the Red Sox to one run over six innings. He gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five.
Analysis:
The veteran ace has now allowed a mere six earned runs in five starts this July, spanning 33.2 innings. Verlander's 144 strikeouts are already far above his total in a similar number of innings a season ago, and he is on pace to easily eclipse his 2014 total as well. The veteran righty will carry a 3.64 ERA and 1.08 WHIP into his start Sunday against the Astros.
