Royals' Edinson Volquez: Quality start versus Rangers

Volquez allowed just one run with three strikeouts and three walks across six strong innings Sunday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.

Analysis:

Volquez was effective Sunday, inducing 13 groundball outs, and he was on the hook for the win until he was finally scored upon in the sixth inning, just before he was removed from the game. He reduced his earned runs total for the fourth consecutive outing, tossed his third consecutive quality start, and lowered his season ERA to 4.56. He's scheduled to take on the same Rangers club on the road Friday.
