Cubs' Dexter Fowler: Experiencing general soreness

Updating a previous report, Fowler is missing from Sunday's lineup due to "general body soreness," Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Manager Joe Maddon wouldn't admit that the hamstring injury that landed Fowler on the DL earlier this year was bothering him, instead referring to the ailment as general soreness. It certainly is understandable that a 30-year-old that has played over 1,000 career games could be experiencing this type of discomfort. That being said, look for Fowler to return to the top of the batting order for Monday's series opener against the White Sox. With the game being played in an AL park, Maddon could elect to use Fowler as the DH in an effort to preserve his physical status.
