The first-place San Francisco Giants may be the next team to benefit from the San Diego Padres' trade-deadline roster purge.

San Francisco remains active in talks with San Diego about acquiring right-hander Andrew Cashner, according to sources of FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.

Cashner is one of the more sought-after arms available on the trade market for interested clubs. The 29-year-old, who told reporters he knows he's going to be traded, has reportedly been looked at by several teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

Toronto was interested in potentially using the strapping right-hander in a relief role, despite his desire to start, while San Diego was reportedly seeking two prospects from Baltimore in exchange for his services.

Rival executives told Morosi last week that Padres general manager A.J. Preller was looking to trade Cashner by Thursday, but nothing has come to fruition just yet.

Since coming to the West coast from the Chicago Cubs in a 2012 trade for Anthony Rizzo, Cashner owns a 28-43 record with a 3.67 ERA across 130 appearances, 97 of which were starts.

Cashner is owed the remainder of his 2016 salary - valued at $7.15 million - and is destined for free agency at season's end.
