Aroldis Chapman is en route to the North Side of Chicago, though the All-Star closer is fully open to an offseason return to the Bronx.

The Yankees dealt the impending free agent to the Cubs on Monday in a five-player deal, and while he's leaving New York for now, Chapman implied he's open to re-signing with the team next season.

"Oh, yeah, if there's a possibility and God willing, yes," Chapman told reporters of his desire to return to the Yankees.

The Cubs represent the third organization for the 28-year-old in the last seven months. He was well received in New York despite seeing his debut delayed by a 30-game suspension for violating the league's domestic violence policy. He spoke highly of his brief tenure in pinstripes.

"It's tough. I feel comfortable here," Chapman said. "I feel part of the family here. Being traded halfway into the season is not as comfortable as starting there. But yeah, it's tough."

Chapman potentially returning to the Yankees would be the best-case scenario for the club. New York landed right-hander Adam Warren, promising shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, and minor-league outfielders Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford in exchange for the flamethrower.
