Trevor Story has set a new record for National League rookie shortstops, as the Colorado Rockies infielder launched his 25th home run of the season Saturday in the second inning against the Atlanta Braves at Coors Field to break the record originally held by former Rockie Troy Tulowitzki.

Sitting on a 1-2 count, Story sent an 83-mph slider from Braves starter Matt Wisler deep into straight-away center field for a two-run blast, giving the Rockies a 2-1 lead and the sole ownership of the record. He tied the mark in Saturday's contest against the Braves with a home run in the sixth inning off reliever Dario Alvarez.

Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the Rockies shortstop is also on pace to likely eclipse the MLB rookie shortstops record of 30 home runs set by Nomar Garciaparra in 1997.
