Blue Jays' Marco Estrada: Solid in first game back from DL

Estrada (5-4) gave up two earned runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners. He struck out three.

Analysis:

The veteran right-hander made a solid return from his back injury and induced 14 swinging strikes, but he didn't receive any appreciable run support on a night that Mariners lefty James Paxton consistently stymied the potent Blue Jays lineup. Despite dropping his second straight decision, Estrada's ERA remains a solid 2.94 and his WHIP remains a strong 1.01.
