San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey was diagnosed with a contusion after fouling a ball off his right foot in the second inning of Friday's contest against the New York Yankees, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News.

Though he earned a walk in the at-bat and initially stayed in the game, he was later replaced by Trevor Brown to begin the bottom of the fourth inning at Yankee Stadium.

X-rays came back negative, and Posey is listed as day to day.
