Cubs' Chris Coghlan: Will begin rehab assignment Friday

Coghlan (ribs) will begin a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Tennessee, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Coghlan was placed on the disabled list by the Cubs on July 3. On the season Coghlan is struggling, hitting just .155 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 194 at-bats. Since being traded to the Cubs, Coghlan has played only left and right field. With the emergence of Willson Contreras, Coghlan will have a hard time finding consistent playing time with the Cubs.
