Brewers' Tyler Thornburg: Loses game on crazy play in ninth

Thornburg (3-4) faced just one batter in the bottom of the ninth, allowing a leadoff triple to Pirates second baseman Josh Harrison, and watched teammate Scooter Gennett overthrow third base to plate Harrison for the winning run.

Analysis:

Thornburg takes the loss Tuesday despite not actually allowing an earned run, although Harrison's shot nearly left the park before Gennett threw the relay throw into the third base dugout. Thornburg's ERA remains at 2.45 on the season, and Jeremy Jeffress continues to have a lock on Milwaukee's closer role for the time being.
