Los Angeles Angels right-hander Nick Tropeano will get a second opinion after suffering a medium to high-grade UCL tear in his elbow, the club announced Tuesday.

Typically, injuries of this nature result in Tommy John surgery, which would effectively end his season.

“It’s upsetting. It’s a tough blow," he told reporters. "I want to be out there. I want to pitch. I want to help this team and it sucks."

Tropeano will join an already crowded Angels disabled list that includes pitchers Garrett Richards, C.J. Wilson, and Andrew Heaney.

In 13 starts this season, the 24-year-old is 3-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 68 1/3 innings, notching 68 strikeouts while yielding 31 walks.
