Orioles' Hyun Soo Kim: Lands on disabled list retroactive to July 11

Kim (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, retroactive to July 11.

Analysis:

After a slow start to the season, Kim had been torrid from the end of May until the day before the All-Star break when he suffered the hamstring strain, slashing .317/.400/.463 over a 34-game stretch. Because he did not play in a game after the break, the Orioles were able to backdate his DL date to July 11. To replace his left-handed bat in the outfield, Baltimore selected the contract of Julio Borbon from Double-A Bowie.
