The Cleveland Indians traded left-hander Ross Detwiler to the Oakland Athletics on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations.

Detwiler opened the season in the Indians' pen, allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings before he was sent to Triple-A. The 30-year-old posted a 4.74 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 12 starts with Columbus this season. He'll report to Triple-A Nashville.

Drafted sixth overall in 2007, Detwiler has split his nine-year career between the rotation and bullpen. He owns a 5.57 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 95 major-league appearances (seven starts) since 2014.

The addition of Detwiler gives Oakland some additional depth should they chose to deal starters Rich Hill or Sonny Gray leading up to the non-waiver trade deadline.
