Nationals' Daniel Murphy: Torments former team once again Saturday
Murphy went 3-for-4 with an RBI double, two-run homer, four RBI and a walk in Saturday's 6-1 victory over the Mets.
Analysis:
The veteran second baseman continues to torment his former Mets teammates, playing the part of a proverbial one-man wrecking crew Saturday. He plated Ben Revere with a third-inning single to snap a 1-1 tie, brought home Jayson Werth with a double in the fifth, and then blasted a 415-foot shot to right center in the seventh to once again drive in Werth and close out the scoring for the Nationals. Following Saturday's performance, Murphy has now gone 6-for-13 with two doubles, two homers, eight RBI, three runs and a walk in the current series against his former squad.
