Giants' Johnny Cueto: Earns NL-leading 13th win Wednesday

Cueto (13-1) picked up his NL-leading 13th win of the season Wednesday after holding the Rockies to just one run over nine innings. He walked one and struck out eight in the 5-1 win.

Analysis:

Cueto didn't give his struggling bullpen a chance to spoil the win like they did for Madison Bumgarner on Tuesday. He continues to pitch with extreme confidence in the friendly confines of AT&T Park, throwing 84 of his 118 pitches for strikes Wednesday. This aggressiveness has led to shorter innings and longer outings, which explains why Cueto is atop the league in innings pitched (131.1) and complete games (four). He isn't scheduled to throw again prior to the All-Star break, and National League manager Terry Collins has already said he will use Cueto in the midsummer classic.
