Giants' Denard Span: Out of lineup while awaiting MRI results

Span (neck) was sent for an MRI on Sunday morning, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

According to freelance writer Andrew Baggarly, Span will also be held out of Sunday's lineup, effectively missing his third straight contest. Span has had ongoing neck issues throughout his career, and it appears they have resurfaced following his attempt to evade a high pitch in the previous series against Oakland. Until the results are disclosed and more information is known, look for Gregor Blanco to see regular starts in center field. According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, a DL stint hasn't yet been ruled out.
