Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Lands on DL with oblique strain

Greinke was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday with a left oblique strain.

Analysis:

Greinke has been dealing with oblique tightness since early this week, but the team had delayed making a concrete decision on the DL up until Sunday. The first day Greinke is eligible for reinstatement lands during the All-Star break, so look for the Diamondbacks to wait until at least July 15 to activate their ace. If all goes well during the time off, Greinke would presumably take the mound during the three-game series against the Dodgers that begins July 15. Unfavorable MRI results could delay that, however.
