Blue Jays' Edwin Encarnacion: Receives one-game suspension, will appeal

Encarnacion was given a one-game suspension Sunday for making contact with umpire Vic Carapazza in Friday's loss to the Indians, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. He'll appeal the ruling.

Analysis:

Encarnacion was ejected from the contest after logging just one at-bat, a development that proved costly when the game lasted 19 innings and the Blue Jays had few reserves available. The slugger will still serve as the DH and bat third in Sunday's lineup, and should continue to play on an everyday basis until his appeal is formally heard. Look for a resolution on the matter within the next few days.
