Cubs' Dexter Fowler: May not be ready to return when eligible Monday

Fowler (hamstring) may not be ready to return from the disabled list Monday, when he is first eligible for activation, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Considering the Cubs' position in the NL Central race and that the All-Star break is just around the corner, it's easy to see a scenario in which the team opts to rest Fowler until after the All-Star break. Nevertheless, his status will be worth monitoring coming out of the weekend in case he makes more progress than expected in his rehab work.
