Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Earns ninth victory while breaking two-start skid

Bumgarner (9-4) gave up seven hits and four earned runs in 6.1 innings during Thursday's 12-6 victory over the A's. He struck out four and also notched a double in four at-bats.

Analysis:

The offensively proficient ace may not have been at his best on the mound, but did notch another milestone with the bat when he became the first opposing pitcher to log an extra-base hit in an AL park since 1997. He broke a rare two-start losing streak as well, although he gave up at least one homer for the fifth straight outing. While he's seen his ERA rise for two consecutive starts, Bumgarner is still sporting a stellar 2.20 figure in that category, and hasn't dropped three consecutive decisions in almost two full years. He'll try to get back to his customary level of dominance next Tuesday versus the Rockies.
