The name Hyun Soo Kim will go down in the history books of the Baltimore Orioles after the Korean outfielder hit a record-setting home run off Seattle Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker on Thursday.

With his seventh-inning blast to right field, Kim recorded the Orioles' 56th home run of the month, which set a major-league record for home runs in June.

The Orioles also have the longest home run streak on June 30, homering on the particular day in 23 straight seasons, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Just three months ago, Kim was almost demoted to the minors after a dreadful 0-for-23 slump during spring training.

The foreign import has turned things around since his treacherous start, hitting .339/.431/.458 coming into Thursday's contest.

It was Kim's third home run of the season.
