Blue Jays' Aaron Sanchez: Could stick in rotation

Sanchez may stick in the starting rotation for the remainder of the season, despite ongoing concerns about his considerable workload, Sportsnet reports.

Analysis:

Speaking just a few weeks ago, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Sanchez will be moved to the bullpen at some point this summer in an effort to curtail his innings. While still in need of bullpen help and still conscious of limiting the young right-hander's workload, the Blue Jays might find it difficult to justify such a move while fighting for a playoff spot amidst a crowded AL field. Rather than moving Sanchez to the bullpen, the team might just opt to skip a few of his starts, or else limit his innings in the games he pitches. Although an immediate decision isn't needed, the Jays will presumably want to have this figured out before they begin pre-deadline shopping. Sanchez has recorded 13 quality starts in 16 tries, with a 3.08 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8-1 record and 96 strikeouts in 105.1 innings.
