Royals' Kendrys Morales: Starting in right field Wednesday

Morales is hitting third and starting in right field Wednesday against the Cardinals, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.

Analysis:

This will be his first start in the outfield since 2008, and it comes in desperate times. The Royals placed Lorenzo Cain (hamstring) on the DL Wednesday and they are playing in a National League park, so manager Ned Yost got creative to get Morales in the lineup to keep some thump next to Eric Hosmer in the middle of the order. It's unlikely that Morales will get many, if any, more starts in the outfield this year, but it would be a major boon for his fantasy owners if he added outfield eligibility.
