White Sox's J.B. Shuck: Ventura's choice in center
Manager Robin Ventura said he prefers an outfield alignment that utilizes Shuck in center field and Adam Eaton in right, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis:
The White Sox initially moved Eaton to center after Austin Jackson hit the disabled list in late-May and flanked him with Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia at the corners. However, the current alignment of Cabrera-Shuck-Eaton is an improvement defensively. The increase in playing time has been a relative wake-up call for Shuck's bat, as he is hitting .250 with five extra-base hits over his last 52 plate appearances.
