Cubs' Jon Lester: Misses 10th win by one out

Lester (9-3) dished 7.2 innings, allowing one run, three hits and a walk while striking out four in Tuesday's no-decision against the Reds.

Analysis:

Lester was dominant on Tuesday, lowering his ERA for the month of June down to 1.41 over 44.2 innings (six starts). Unfortunately, his performance went by the wayside as Hector Rondon blew the save, giving up the tying run with two outs in the ninth. His name sometimes gets overshadowed by his own teammate Jake Arrieta - and some guy named Kershaw - but, the 32-year-old Lester has been dominant this season and is just about as good as them come. He'll be on the road Sunday for his next start, looking for his elusive 10th win, against the Mets.
