The Cleveland Indians have designated right-hander Joba Chamberlain for assignment, the team announced Monday.
Chamberlain was signed to a minor-league deal by the Indians on Dec. 1. Cleveland is his fourth team in as many years.
In 20 innings out of the bullpen, the 30-year-old proved a serviceable relief option, owning a 2.25 ERA and racking up 18 strikeouts while giving up just one homer and 11 walks.
Over his 10-year big-league career, Chamberlain has a 3.81 ERA in 555 1/3 innings pitched.
The club also designated left-hander Tom Gorzelanny for assignment, and recalled Mike Clevinger and T.J. House.
