Zack Greinke's injury apparently needs some more time to heal up, as the Arizona Diamondbacks announced Sunday that the ace has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain retroactive to June 29.

Greinke left his start on June 28 against the Phillies after just two innings with tightness in his oblique. The team had previously announced he'd be skipping his next start, which had been scheduled for Tuesday.

Manager Chip Hale told reporters that an MRI revealed a "bit of a strain" in Greinke's oblique, and that he hasn't been feeling better in the last few days. He also expressed hope the 32-year-old can return in short order after the All-Star break.

After a slow start to his career in the desert, Greinke has rebounded to post a 2.26 ERA and 47 strikeouts since May 17. He owns a 3.62 ERA, 1.162 WHIP, and 91 strikeouts in 17 starts with Arizona.
