Clayton Kershaw is getting treated for minor back discomfort, but Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts insists it didn't affect the lefty's latest start.

In a 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, Kershaw gave up nine hits and four runs, both tied for his second-highest totals on the season.

Roberts said the lower-back ailment is an "off-and-on issue," according to ESPN's Doug Padilla, though he didn't sound too concerned. He added Kershaw is "absolutely" expected to make his next start Friday against the Colorado Rockies.

This season, Kershaw has been electric. He owns an 11-2 record and a 1.79 ERA is 16 starts. Over 121 innings pitched, he's only surrendered nine walks while striking out 145 batters.
